Belgian international Thorgan Hazard has signed a contract with French club Lens until 2028, the club announced. Lens finished second in Ligue 1 last season and will compete in the Champions League.
The 33-year-old Hazard arrives as a free agent after his contract with Anderlecht expired at the end of June. He scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists last season. This move marks Hazard's return to Lens, where he made his professional debut in Ligue 2 back in 2011.
Hazard's career also included a spell at Chelsea, where he played alongside his brother Eden Hazard. From Chelsea, he was loaned to Zulte Waregem for two seasons before a permanent transfer to Borussia Mönchengladbach. He then played for Borussia Dortmund, winning the German Cup in 2021. Following this, he spent six months at PSV Eindhoven before his stint at Anderlecht.
Thorgan Hazard is a former Belgium international, having earned 47 caps for the "Red Devils." He was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
"His experience at the highest level will be a major asset for the team. Thorgan will bring us the ability to read and accelerate the game with his passing quality and leadership," said Lens sporting director Jean-Louis Leca.
