When we talk of a city's landscape, architecture plays a major role.

The exhibition Think Global, Build Social! - Architectures for a Better World, therefore, explores the theme of social responsibility in contemporary architecture.

Showcasing 15 current examples of an alternative approach to architecture, the exhibition highlights socially-responsible practices that require greater personal initiative and creativity to develop low-cost architectural solutions that will improve living conditions for people in less-privileged parts of the world.

The exhibition kicks off with a panel discussion with local architects and urban designers organised in cooperation with Heinrich-Böll Foundation and the Nsibidi Institute.

The event will hold at the Federal Government Press, Lagos Island.

There will also be a workshop organised with the Fabienne Hölzel (Fabulous Urban) for the closing weekend in June.

IA vast majority of the projects selected by curator Andres Lepik,  have been developed through close collaborations with the future users and also incorporate local building traditions and techniques.

Said spaces include schools, public spaces and residential buildings and they address the specific needs of those for whom (and with whom) they are being implemented thereby enabling a two-way knowledge transfer.
