Arsenal legend says Paul Scholes was better than Steven Gerrard

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed his opinion on one of the longest standing argument in the English Premier League.

While speaking in his roles as a s pundit on Monday Night Football, Henry opined that Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was more influential than his Liverpool counterpart Steven Gerrard.

Both former English internationals were at the midfield of their club's glory days but Henry argued that Scholes was a better player.

Asked which of the player he would have to play alongside with, Henry answered 'Paul Scholes'.

"The next one would have been, right behind, very close, Stevie G," Arsenal's record scorer said.

"But I have to go with Paul Scholes.

"He was just ahead in his head. He made Manchester United tick. Every time we were playing them we needed to find a way to stop him.

"It's true. I think Stevie G comes really close to him. But Paul Scholes would have to win."

The Arsenal legend also said he couldn't understand why, England could not win the World Cup with both players in their midfield alongside the likes of Frank Lampard and David Beckham.

"You guys in England had, on paper, the best midfield in the world," Henry said.
