'That's their own Cup of tea' - Odion Ighalo unfazed by critics following Super Eagles return
Al Hilal striker Odion Ighalo has hit out at critics who continue to question his return to the Super Eagles after team after coming out of international retirement.
Ighalo had previously announced his retirement from the Super Eagles following the conclusion of the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations which Nigeria lost at the semis to eventual champions Algeria.
However, the 32-year-old former Manchester United striker has now responded to critics claiming that he's unperturbed by slander from Nigerian fans.
"I don’t pay attention to that. Everything they’re saying is their own cup of tea. At my age, I just signed for a new team. This is my 11th team in my professional career.
“I have been called up, I will take my bag and I will go to represent my country and give my best on 100 pere cent. “As long as I come out from every game and I’m satisfied with my performance — whether it is a win, loss, or draw — then that’s it. I’m a professional footballer." Ighalo told ESPN.
“This is what I’ve been doing for 17-18 years so why would I be worried about what people say?” he added.
Nigeria will travel to Ghana for the first leg of their 2022 World Cup Qualifier on March 25 before returning to Abuja to play the reverse fixture on March 29.
Ighalo continued his blistering goalscoring form for his new side, scoring his fifth goal in six appearances for Al Hilal following their 4-0 victory over Al Nassr in the Saudi Professional League on Thursday, March 3.
Ighalo will be in action for his Saudi side when they take on league leaders Al Ittihad on Tuesday night, March 8 in the Saudi Professional League.
