Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is set to travel to Amsterdam today to finalize a year-long loan move to Ajax, as reported by "Mundo Deportivo."

The shot-stopper did not participate in yesterday's afternoon training session and will depart the Catalan club's training camp in England after bidding farewell to his teammates and staff. The official announcement of his loan to Ajax might be delayed by a few days, possibly until Monday, as the Amsterdam giants are currently a publicly traded company.

The goalkeeper is a highly sought-after player by Ajax's new coach, Míchel, who previously brought him to Girona. There, Ter Stegen suffered a severe injury in only his second match, subsequently missing the entire remainder of the season, including the World Cup.

Today, July 31st, is a crucial date, as the deadline for Ajax to register new players for the third preliminary round of the Conference League expires at 11:59 PM. Míchel is keen to have the goalkeeper available. Now, everything hinges on whether Ajax can submit the necessary documents to UEFA on time, even if the official loan announcement comes later.

It's worth noting that Ter Stegen's loan will not significantly alleviate Barcelona's budget, as the Catalan club will cover 90% of the player's salary. However, depending on the number of matches played, Ajax will contribute a small portion beyond the agreed-upon 10%.
