French football club Olympique Marseille has announced the termination of its collaboration with coach Habib Beye. The 48-year-old Frenchman failed to achieve the primary objective set upon his arrival: qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Beye, a former player and captain for Marseille, arrived at the Stade Velodrome in mid-February following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi.

During his tenure at the helm of the 1992/1993 Champions League winners, the French coach secured five wins, two draws, and five losses. His squad finished fifth in the recently concluded Ligue 1 season, a position that guarantees participation in the Europa League.
According to AFP, Bruno Genesio, who recently left his coaching role at Lille, is expected to be his successor. Discussions regarding Marseille's coaching position were put on hold in early June due to sanctions from UEFA for repeated failures to meet financial targets under financial sustainability rules.
