System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian has blamed Oasis for England's World Cup exit. During the band's second concert at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium recently, he suggested the British pop legends were responsible for England's 2-1 semi-final loss to Argentina.
System of a Down's show coincided with the football match, and Malakian kept the audience updated on the score from the stage. When England scored to make it 1-0, he announced, "I heard England just scored," and cheered, "Come on, England!" during the middle section of their song "Dreaming."
Later, when the English team conceded the equalizer, boos erupted from the crowd. The guitarist responded, "If you lose, I blame Oasis. Don't boo me, boo Oasis."
Two days prior, during the first show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Daron Malakian had the London crowd chanting "get Oasis out of your ass" by altering the lyrics of their song "Needles." He explained, "We have a song about a tapeworm. Just for fun today, I'm going to name the tapeworm 'Oasis'."
System of a Down's disdain for Oasis stems from comments Noel Gallagher made about System of a Down 25 years ago, around the release of their album "Toxicity." In an interview at the time, Gallagher stated, "I lived to hear the shittiest band of all time."
