Aston Villa has reportedly reached a provisional agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Ibrahim Mbaye, according to journalist David Ornstein. The deal is valued at 55 million euros, despite earlier reports suggesting PSG had priced the 18-year-old winger at 70 million just a few weeks ago.
The necessary paperwork is currently being processed, and the transfer is expected to be finalized very soon. The strong relationship between the two club presidents, Nassef Sawiris and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is said to have facilitated the negotiations. The Birmingham-based club turned its attention to the talented Frenchman, who represents Senegal internationally, after failing to secure Rafael Leão, who opted for a move to Galatasaray.
Liverpool also showed significant interest in Mbaye. While the Reds are on the verge of finalizing a deal for his PSG teammate Bradley Barcola, they are still looking to add another wide attacker to their squad.
Mbaye has made 42 appearances for PSG's first team, scoring four goals and providing four assists. Last season, the teenager netted three goals and registered two assists across 31 matches in all competitions.
