Hull KR beat Salford Red Devils to enter top eight

Hull KR climbed out of Super League's bottom four with a hard-fought 34-28 win over Salford Red Devils on Tuesday.

Rovers headed into the home fixture having recorded morale-boosting back-to-back league victories over Widnes Vikings and Warrington Wolves, as well as a Challenge Cup triumph against Catalans Dragons, but they were on the back foot in the early stages.

Tries from Mason Caton-Brown and Ben Jones-Bishop put the visitors in control, before Kieran Dixon pulled Rovers back within two points with a try six minutes from the break.

That score proved to be the pick-me-up that Rovers needed, with Dane Tilse, Kris Welham and Maurice Blair all going over early in the second half to open up a 26-10 advantage.

Salford refused to lie down, though, and levelled the scores at 28-28 courtesy of tries from Jordan Walne, Scott Taylor and Jones-Bishop's second.

However, it was Albert Kelly who had the last word as he raced for the whitewash to wrap up the win, with Josh Mantellato splitting the posts to add the extras.

The result moves Rovers above city rivals Hull FC into the top eight, while Salford remain 11th.
