Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has been rewarded for his performance in Everton's Carabao Cup win over Fleetwood on Tuesday night.

Iwobi was at his brilliant best again as the Toffees progressed to the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Iwobi makes Carabao Cup team of the week

The Nigerian set up Demarai Gray for the only goal of the game as Everton beat Fleetwood 1-0. 

The Super Eagles star was Everton's best player on the night, creating four chances more than any other player on the pitch.

Iwobi's performance in the game has earned him a spot in the Carabao Cup team of the week.

The 26-year-old Nigerian is part of a three-man midfield that all play in the Premier League. Iwobi was included alongside Steven Alzate and Mateusz Klich in the middle of the park. It is a perfect reward for his brilliant start to the season.

The Nigerian international was Everton's best player in their opening league game of the season against Chelsea. He was also brilliant in games against Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

This season, he has played an unfamiliar defensive role in the midfield but has not put a foot wrong. Only his Super Eagles teammate Wilfred Ndidi has won more takcles than Iwobi in the Premier Leagues this season.

The former Arsenal star will hope to continue in the same vein when Everton take on Brentford in their Premier League clash. The Toffees will also need the Nigerian to maintain his form when they take on Bournemouth in the next round of the Carabao Cup.
