Nigeria and South Africa are both in Group E of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers and meet in the matchday one in Nigeria.

Ahead of the game, the new coach of the South Africa senior national team Baxter wants his team to give Nigeria a very competitive game.

"We need to be competitive and players will do it the South African way; that should reflect the play in the country," said Baxter.

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa have never beaten the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a competitive game. In 12 games against Nigeria, they have lost seven, drawn four and won just one- which was not a competitive game.

Baxter returns as coach of the Bafana Bafana having managed them from May 2004 to November 2005.
