Gernot Rohr to call up Eze, Ikouwem for friendly matches

The German coach was at the just concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN) to keep an eye on the home based Eagles at the tournament.

Rohr was impressed with the performances of Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenewa at the tournament and he is expected to be on the plane to Russia.

However, reports emanating from the coaches' team suggest that the defensive duo of Eze and Udoh caught the Eye of the boss.

Eze played in the centre of the defence and won the man of the match accolade in the CHAN Eagles narrow win over Libya in the second group stage fixture.

The 23-year-old defender who is expected to complete a move to Bulgarian outfitLokomotiv Plovdiv, played all matches for the eagles and put on an impressive showing at the tournament.

Ikouwem Udo Utin is just 18 years old but was one of the top performers for the Eagles at the CHAN tournament.

Utin plays for NPFL side Enyimba and has been touted as a potential replacement for the ever regular Elderson Echiejiele.

The Super Eagles have two friendly matches against two World cup participants scheduled for March.

The Eagles take on Poland on Friday, March 23 at Wroclaw, Poland, and then play Serbia on Tuesday, March 27 at London.

Gernot Rohr is expected to release a 35 man list for the World Cup preparation, Eze and Utin will however have to prove their worth in the upcoming friendly matches to be selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
