5 Players who could get Wike’s $20,000
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will later today be facing their counterparts from Swaziland in the second leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Sunday Oliseh’s men were held to a goalless draw on in the first leg on Friday, November 13 and will need to beat Swaziland to progress to the next round of qualifiers.
Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has pledged $20,000 per goal in a bid to boost the players ahead of the crucial encounter.
Secretary to the Rivers government Kenneth Kobani visited the Super Eagles base at the Rosenthal Hotel who delivered the Governor’s message to the players.
These are five players who are likely to get the $20,000.
1. Odion Ighalo
He is the most inform striker in the Super Eagles team and would likely get the nod over Obafemi Martins.
Ighalo will be the first name on the lips of anybody chosen to predict the scorer of Nigeria’s goal against Swaziland.
2. Ahmed Musa
The Super Eagles captain is a constant feature from the rings in Sunday Oliseh’s team and can be count on to deliver the goals with his pace and tricky.
3. Simon Moses
Another live wire in the Super Eagles team.
Remember his solo goal against Cameroon in an October friendly, Simon is capable of producing recreating a similar one against Swaziland.
4. John Obi Mikel
This will be shocking to most people, because the midfielder rarely score goals. But in the Super Eagles team under Sunday Oliseh, Mikel Obi plays with certain freedom and was seen in some goalscoring positions in the first leg against Swaziland. With a better precision in his shooting, Mmikel could be going home with $20,000.
5. Obafemi Martins
If anytime around halfway in the second half and the Super Eagles are yet to score, Sunday Oliseh will turn to MLS based Obafemi Martins.
The Seattle Sounders FC striker with his pace can be a huge threat in the second half against tiring oppositions.
