Successful Surgery for Ai Ogura, Return Timeline Unknown

MotoGP team Trackhouse Aprilia announced today that Ai Ogura has undergone successful surgery on his left thumb in Barcelona.

As reported yesterday, the Japanese rider sustained an injury and will miss this weekend's Aragon Grand Prix. He was seen by Dr. Mir in Barcelona today, where a plate was inserted near the thumb of his left hand.

At this stage, it's unclear how long Ogura, currently third in the MotoGP overall standings, will be sidelined. Both the rider and his team hope he will miss only one race and return for the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano in two weeks.
