The Texas-based team, which had dropped the first two games at home, thus avoided a historically insurmountable 0-3 hole, as no team has ever recovered from such a deficit in the playoffs.

Led by a remarkable performance from French phenom Victor Wembanyama, who tallied 32 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, the Spurs managed to hold onto their lead in the decisive moments this time. The victory snapped the Knicks' 12-game winning streak in the playoffs.

The game was marked by several lead changes. The Spurs started strong, ending the first quarter with an 11-point lead (22-33). However, the Knicks responded with a dominant second quarter (42-24), heading into halftime with a 64-57 advantage. The third quarter was tightly contested, concluding with the visitors holding a slim one-point lead (91-92).

In the final quarter, the Spurs capitalized on a poor start from the hosts, who quickly accumulated fouls and struggled with their three-point shooting. Mitch Johnson's team built a maximum lead of eight points (100-108) with less than five minutes remaining.

The closing moments were thrilling. A three-pointer from Stephon Castle seemed to seal the game, but Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby cut the deficit to just two points with 9.4 seconds left. However, Castle remained composed at the free-throw line, sinking two crucial shots to secure the final score.

Beyond Wembanyama, key contributors for the Spurs included Stephon Castle (23 points, five rebounds, five assists), De'Aaron Fox (12 points, eight assists), reserve Dylan Harper (13 points, nine rebounds), Julian Champagnie (12 points), and Devin Vassell (11 points).

For the New York Knicks, OG Anunoby scored 28 points, and Jalen Brunson added 32. Josh Hart contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, while Jordan Clarkson chipped in 10 points off the bench.

The NBA Finals, a best-of-seven series, continues on Wednesday, once again in New York, before returning to Texas on Saturday for Game 5.
