Another significant setback has hit Bruno Ramos, the 21-year-old center-back who had joined Sporting's pre-season training. According to A BOLA, the Brazilian sustained an injury on Friday during a joint training session involving the first team and the B squad.
The defender was permanently signed from Académico de Viseu this transfer window, with the former club retaining a percentage of his economic rights. Ramos had hoped to capitalize on the absences of Debast, Diomande, and Gonçalo Inácio, who were at the World Cup, to establish himself within Rui Borges' squad. However, this process has now suffered a blow due to the injury, with the player undergoing further diagnostic tests to determine the full extent of the damage.
This represents a new hurdle for Bruno Ramos. While Sporting's football hierarchy has always recognized his talent, his career has been plagued by a lack of consistency due to physical issues. Evidence of this can be seen in the 2024/25 season, where despite making his senior debut in a Portuguese Cup match against Portimonense, he only featured in seven games for the B team, then managed by João Pereira, Pedro Coelho, and João Gião. In the recently concluded season, he played in just 18 matches for Sporting B and, despite being called up for the Champions League group stage match against Juventus, remained an unused substitute.
