Sporting fans are set to receive good news regarding Zicky Té, as sources close to A BOLA indicate that the contract renewal for the Portuguese international with the Lions is well underway. A new agreement, extending his stay until 2030 and adding three years to the pivot's current deal with the Alvalade club, is reportedly close to being finalized.

The pivot's recent seasons have been plagued by physical issues. During the last campaign, rumors even circulated about a potential early career retirement due to a chronic knee injury. The player swiftly addressed these claims on social media, dismissing them as "unfounded rumors." In the 2025/26 season, when the Lions saw Benfica celebrate a back-to-back championship, Zicky made only 22 appearances, scoring 15 goals.

Zicky Té made his debut for Sporting's senior team at just 17 and has since become a key figure for Nuno Dias's squad and the Portuguese national team. With the Lions, he has won two Champions Leagues – in the most recent triumph this year, he was even named the best player of the Final Four – four league titles, three Portuguese Cups, four League Cups, and two Super Cups. After securing the European title last May, the 24-year-old player confirmed he would remain at Sporting for the upcoming season, the last on his current contract, stating he was unaware of any potential interest from abroad.

In recent years, Barcelona closely monitored Zicky's situation, but that interest has cooled. Last week, the Catalan club announced the signing of Higor de Souza, a former Benfica player who operates in the same position as the Portuguese international. More recently, Semey, a Kazakhstani club with significant financial resources, also pursued the Lions' pivot. However, it appears Zicky will continue to delight Sporting fans at the João Rocha beyond next season.
