Sportal Learns: EuroLeague Isn't a Marketplace, Partizan Won't Get Better Terms Than Zvezda

On Thursday, Spanish outlet "Encestando" published a report about multi-year licenses for Partizan and Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague, the money they would need to pay, and a "discount" for the black-and-whites. This information is inaccurate, as confirmed to Sportal by the EuroLeague.

Spanish media reported that at a supposed shareholders' meeting, Serbian clubs applied to become owners of the competition as the list of owners expands. "Encestando" wrote that all new owners would have to pay between 45 and 80 million euros, but that the rules weren't the same, and that Partizan would receive a "discount." The EuroLeague has since denied this report.

That information is incorrect. Partizan and Crvena Zvezda have identical options. Both Serbian clubs currently have the same opportunities to acquire a franchise in the competition once the process opens. The history, tradition, and long-standing contributions of Partizan and Crvena Zvezda to the EuroLeague will be valued during the assessment for franchise entry. - EuroLeague to Sportal
