Vassilis Spanoulis has arrived at Aris, and it appears he's bringing a host of EuroLeague talent with him. Aris management has opened their coffers, smashing piggy banks and emptying every pocket, determined to assemble a super-team capable of challenging powerhouses like Olympiacos and Panathinaikos in the upcoming season.
According to Greek media reports, Kem Birch and Shavon Shields are soon to join Aris, with Matt Morgan also on the same path. Despite being on the verge of signing a new contract with Virtus Bologna, Aris swooped in at the last minute, reportedly offering €2,000,000 per season, an offer Morgan seemingly can't refuse.
It's worth remembering that last season, Morgan was a key player for Virtus, even though he primarily came off the bench. He's a combo guard, adept at both point guard and shooting guard positions, and has typically served as a 'microwave' scorer. However, he's expected to be a starter for Aris. Last season, Morgan averaged 13.5 points on 61% shooting from the field, along with 1.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Aris will compete in the EuroCup next season, but the Greek giants openly state that the EuroLeague is their ultimate goal, and they are committed to doing everything necessary to reach Europe's elite competition in the coming years.
