After Partizan was reportedly turned down by Armoni Brooks and Zach LeDay, the Belgrade club, according to social media speculation, has now set its sights on Tornike Shengelia. Shengelia has been considered one of the best and most dominant power forwards in European basketball for several seasons.
According to "Mozzart Sport," Shengelia is under contract with Barcelona until 2028. However, if a club is willing to pay 900,000 euros, the Georgian forward could leave Spain. Whether Partizan is prepared to make such a significant investment remains to be seen.
Toko, alongside Kevin Punter, Joel Parra, Juan Nunez, and Dario Brizuela, is one of the few players who survived Barcelona's roster overhaul this summer. While the Catalans, with Aleksandar Sekulić as their new coach, are undergoing a complete squad reconstruction, it seems they won't easily part with Shengelia. Power forwards and centers (Toko can also play the five) have been the most sought-after commodities in the EuroLeague market for years, and as mentioned, Shengelia is among the best in his position.
As for Partizan, their current roster only includes Carlik Jones, Tonye Jekiri, Arijan Lakić, Vanja Marinković, Mitar Bošnjaković, Aleksej Pokuševski, and Mario Nakić. The status of the latter three is still uncertain, with no clear indication if they will stay or move on. On the other hand, Isaia Bonga, Bruno Fernando, Aleksa Radanov, Dwayne Washington, Nick Calathes, Sterling Brown, and Dylan Osetkowski have all departed the black-and-whites.
Should Shengelia join, and assuming Tanasković and Willis have indeed signed, Partizan would likely complete their power forward lineup.
