Governor urges NDDC to develop Niger Delta

The Governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to focus on the developmental projects in the Niger Delta.

The Governor also called on the agency to embark on projects that will add value to the lives of people of the oil rich region.

According to Leadership, Dickson said this while speaking with the chairman of the NDDC, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba at the Bayelsa Government House.

The Governor also condemned the actions of political office holders in the Niger Delta who think of themselves only, and not the region.

He said ’The ancient community of Oloibiri where the crude oil was first discovered in commercial quantity is now a shadow of itself.

‘’Most of the International Oil Companies operating in the state neither have their offices or pay taxes to Bayelsa State government.’’

Meanwhile, former President Goodluck Jonathan told newsmen at an event in Rivers state that NDDC has failed the people of Niger Delta.
