Senate President’s corruption trial begins

Saraki has been accused of 13 counts of corruption by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki on corruption charges has begun at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The charges against the Senate President include anticipatory declaration of assets and failure to declare assets acquired by him during his tenure as governor of Kwara State among others.

The charge sheet was filed by the Deputy Director in the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, MS Hassan on September 11, 2015.

Saraki is however not present at the proceedings but is instead being represented by his lawyer, Mahmud Magaji.

The Senate President had earlier denied the allegations levelled against him and termed them as mischievous.
