"This year was a challenging year for Samsung," said Samsung Electronics America president Tim Baxter at the company's CES 2017 press conference, according to Recode.

Baxter said the South Korea-based company continues to work internally and with third parties to detail what went wrong the device. “Very soon we will be sharing the root-cause report on the Note 7,” he said.

A number of Samsung's large-screen Galaxy Note 7 phones caught fire, forcing the company to make a recall. It initially blamed a battery issue and issued replacement devices, but was forced to shut down the entire product after some replacement models also went ablaze.
