MOSCOW, May 10 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that a peace deal agreed in Minsk over the separatist conflict in east Ukraine was moving forward despite problems and that it had been quieter in Ukraine recently.

Putin made the comments at a news conference in Moscow with Germany's Angela Merkel.

Relations between Russia and Germany, countries with multibillion-dollar trade and energy links, are at a low point over the conflict in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia over its backing of pro-Russian rebels there.
