France coach Philippe Saint-Andre said it was mission accomplished for his team early in the Rugby World Cup after a 38-11 win over Romania.

Sofiane Guitoune crossed twice for France as they went over for five tries in the comfortable win at the Olympic Stadium in London on Wednesday.

With two wins, and a bonus point, from as many games in Pool D, Saint-Andre said that was good enough for France.

"The first target is achieved," he told a news conference.

"To win, nine points, it's not easy to play two games in four days, and all the squad was involved. No injuries, so the targets of these two games are achieved."

As for his team's performance against Romania, Saint-Andre was less impressed.

France committed 11 turnovers in their own half and conceded 13 penalties during their comfortable victory.

"To be honest, I was not so happy," Saint-Andre said.

"We wanted to put tempo in the game, [but] during 30 minutes I don't think we had more than two phases in the game."
