'Very difficult for a woman to do'

Last week, during a tense five-setter against 19-year-old French talent Moise Kouame, the 22-year-old Paraguayan lashed out at the umpire. Among other things, he stated that "these types of matches should be officiated by a man" because it's "very difficult for a woman to do." He added, "It's a very demanding crowd, and it takes a lot of strength to stand up to the public," said the world No. 71, who ultimately lost the match.

Half of his prize money

According to the tournament director, "such actions are unacceptable to us, to the tournament, to the federation." The fine amount corresponds to half of the prize money Vallejo earned by reaching the second round in Paris. Vallejo can consider himself fortunate, as the maximum fine for unsportsmanlike conduct can exceed 85,000 euros.
