The Senate had earlier threatened to suspend plenary sittings if INEC refuses to conduct the elections.

Wike also warned that the country might be thrown into chaos, if the current INEC administration organises the 2019 general election.

According to Leadership, the Rivers Governor said this while meeting with members of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

He also said “I thank God  that the Senate has  risen to the occasion . It is important that the  Senate has taken the right action that will ensure that Rivers State gets her representatives  to speak for the state when issues of National importance  are discussed in the Senate and the House of Representatives.”
