Obasanjo’s Former Aide Dies At 61

Seasoned journalist and former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Remi Oyo is dead.

Mrs. Oyo died yesterday, October 1, 2014, in London where she was recuperating after receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Her husband, Vincent Oyo, issued a statement today, October 2, saying that she died peacefully.

Mrs. Oyo was also the first female President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, a member of the 1999 Constitution Drafting Committee and a recipient of Nigeria’s National honour, the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

She is survived by her husband, two children, Otome and Okiemuote, and three grandchildren.
