Alimpijević was ejected in the final quarter for a heated reaction to a referee's call, at a moment when Beşiktaş held a 71-66 lead.

The Serbian coach disagreed with the officials' decision to award a foul and two free throws to Karşıyaka after contact between Stefan Moody and Beşiktaş player Jonah Mathews. This led to an argument with the referees, resulting in two quick technical fouls and his ejection.

Alimpijević is also expected to face further financial penalties, having already been fined for commenting on the officiating after the Turkish Cup final against Fenerbahçe. That incident cost him a 13,000 euro fine and a two-game suspension.

Following their EuroCup final qualification, the Istanbul team secured a crucial victory in the Turkish championship, drawing level with Fenerbahçe at the top of the standings with a 21-4 record.
