Former Real Madrid attacking midfielder Guti recently recounted how he turned down an offer from AC Milan nearly three decades ago.
"They offered me significantly more than what I was earning in Spain. We played in their centenary match in 1999, and they contacted me. My motivation wasn't money; it was emotion. I preferred to play 30 years in Madrid rather than 90 at another club. That was my desire. I believe few people have had the opportunity to be teammates with Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Roberto Carlos, and Kaká. I stuck with that," Guti stated, as quoted by "La Razón."
The Real Madrid academy product boasts an impressive trophy cabinet, including five La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies, one UEFA Super Cup, and two Intercontinental Cups. Guti donned the white jersey for 15 seasons, accumulating over 500 appearances. He concluded his playing career with Beşiktaş in 2011.
