While presenting books to schools around the country, Aliyu Gusau said there is little or no provision for books in the budget and it is affecting the education sector negatively.

Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen Aliyu Gusau, said lack of proper budget for books in Nigerias education sector is behind non availability of books in the country.

Gen Gusau stated this while presenting 15,000 books his foundation donated to 37 tertiary and secondary schools across the country.

The former National Security Adviser said non availability of books in the Nigeria schools posed a negative effect on education.

“This problem needs to be addressed,” Gusau said adding, "There is no, or very little, left in the budget for books.”

Speaking through the Chairman, Board of Directors, Nagarta Radio, Dr Haroun Adamu, Gen Gusau said the exponential growth in population has put immense pressure on Nigeria's resources.
