An exceptionally rare NBA trading card, featuring the signatures of both Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, is currently up for auction and could potentially shatter the record for the most expensive sports collectible ever sold. This highly sought-after item, which remained out of public view for nearly two decades, has already attracted bids exceeding two million dollars.
This collectible, a card from the 2007/08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman series, was held in a private collection for almost twenty years, its existence largely unknown. Brendan Kirbach, a senior account executive at Alt, revealed that the card "was in a private collection for a couple of decades, and nobody knew it was available."
This unique card from the 2007/08 Exquisite Collection, specifically the "Dual Logoman Autograph" model, not only showcases the autographs of these two legends but also incorporates NBA logo patches cut from game-worn jerseys of both athletes.
The card remained officially ungraded for approximately 20 years before its acquisition by the current owner. Last month, the new owner submitted it for evaluation to the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) service, which assigned it an impressive quality rating of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10, considered remarkable for an item of this nature.
The piece's value is further amplified by its origin in the 2007/08 season. During that same period, Kobe Bryant (Lakers) secured his sole NBA MVP award, while LeBron James (Cavaliers) clinched his only career scoring title, averaging 30 points per game.
The auction commenced last Friday, and according to Sports Collectors Daily, the highest bid after seven offers stands at $2,472,280. With the auction running until September 24th, there's a strong possibility that the final price will break records. The current benchmark is held by a very similar card, also from the 2007/08 Exquisite collection, featuring Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, which sold for $12.932 million in August 2025.
