Raptors Coach Bids Farewell to Legendary Duško Vujošević

Toronto Raptors head coach, Darko Rajaković, paid an emotional tribute to the late, legendary Serbian coach Duško Vujošević before his team's recent NBA game.

Rajaković emphasized Vujošević's profound influence on his career, describing him as a great mentor who imparted invaluable knowledge during his early coaching days in Belgrade. He highlighted that the departed coach was not only an exceptional professional but also a character builder, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

Furthermore, Rajaković underscored Vujošević's immense contribution to European basketball, noting that his legacy will continue to shape future generations of players and coaches.

«Duško Vujošević was an amazing human being, an amazing mentor. I was a coach in the Red Star youth program in Belgrade, and he was with Partizan at the time, coaching their professional team. We shared the same gym, and he was known for always liking to steal a little bit of our time and get a little bit more work in.

«But even he, even from the opposing side, was always open to coming over, talking to me, and telling me: "This is part of my practice, sharing knowledge." That's something I truly, truly appreciate. Even though we never worked together, he was always trying to help me. He was always trying to help all the coaches in the community. My condolences go out to his family, to the Partizan team, and to the entire basketball community in Serbia.»

Vujošević, who recently passed away at the age of 67, is considered one of the most iconic figures in Balkan basketball, having primarily been associated with Partizan and the development of numerous great players.
