Before the afternoon stages, the nine-time champion held a 5.3-second lead over Adrien Fourmaux and an 8.0-second lead over Oliver Solberg. However, torrential rain that fell in and around Jyväskylä in the afternoon caused considerable shifts in the standings and opened up substantial gaps.

By the end of Friday, Ogier, who benefited from favorable weather conditions, led Elfyn Evans by 16.3 seconds. Evans also gained from the deteriorating weather. Sami Pajari, who was fourth after the morning stages, moved up one position but now trails leader Ogier by a significant 26.7 seconds.

Solberg was among the biggest losers, as the Swede dropped over 35 seconds to Ogier in the afternoon stages and now lags 41.3 seconds behind the Frenchman. Takamoto Katsuta faced the most significant issues among the Toyota drivers, with his windshield fogging up severely, costing the Japanese driver over two minutes and leaving him 2:30.7 behind Ogier.

Undoubtedly, the biggest loser of all was Fourmaux, who encountered the worst possible conditions during the initial downpour that began shortly after the start of the seventh stage. In that stage alone, the Hyundai driver lost a minute and a half to the leaders, plummeting to seventh place after dropping five positions.

By the end of the day, Fourmaux managed to reclaim one position, moving up to sixth place, 1:24.0 behind Ogier. The Hyundai driver's day also concluded with a collision with concrete barriers during the Harju super special stage, but fortunately, it did not cause serious damage to the front left of Fourmaux's car.

Ahead of Fourmaux, in fifth position, is M-Sport's Martins Sesks, who leads the Hyundai driver by 19.1 seconds. Behind Fourmaux in the top 10 are Josh McErlean, Katsuta, and Thierry Neuville, who lost significant time before lunch and also had bad luck with the weather in the afternoon, as did WRC2 leader Robert Virves.

Tomorrow's second full day of racing features eight new stages covering a total of 125.7 competitive kilometers. The day will kick off at 8:01 AM Bulgarian time with "Parkkola" (16.76 km), followed by "Päijälä" (10.55 km), "Västilä" (19.1 km), and "Leustu" (16.44 km) before lunch. These four sections will be repeated in the same order after the midday service, starting at 3:01 PM Bulgarian time.
