Mbappe, Bellingham, and Diomande Strike as Real Madrid Sweep Past Racing Santander
Real Madrid had their star power to thank for their comprehensive 3-0 win over Racing Santander to keep pace with Barcelona at the top of the LaLiga table.
Goals from Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Yan Diomande were enough for Los Blancos to cut the gap to Barcelona to only three points.
Racing vs Real Madrid: As it happened
The visitors made an early breakthrough when Matteo Prati brought down Kylian Mbappe inside the penalty area. The French forward stepped up to convert from the spot, giving Real the lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Racing responded positively, but Thibaut Courtois produced an excellent save to deny Iker Luque.
Real doubled their advantage midway through the first half following an impressive passing move. Arda Guler played Jude Bellingham through on goal, allowing the England international to round goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala before finishing into an empty net.
The visitors added a third before half-time when Yan Diomande collected a partially cleared corner and unleashed a spectacular volley into the top corner from the edge of the area.
Racing attempted to respond after the break, with Yassir Zabiri firing narrowly over, but Real continued to threaten. Mbappe came close to adding another goal after driving through the home defence, only to see his curling effort strike the post.
The hosts were also denied a potential penalty after Aurelien Tchouameni handled the ball inside the area, with VAR ruling that it had bounced off his foot first.
The defeat prevented Racing from building on their previous victory over Espanyol, leaving them close to the relegation zone, while Real maintained their pursuit of Barcelona at the summit.
