Nigerian midfielder, Rabiu Ibrahim, has completed a 3-year loan move from his parent club, AS Trenchin, to Belgian side, KAA Gent.
The transfer came through on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, after the player passed his medicals.
Popular sport news outfit, Supersport, confirmed the news while quoting a statement made by Ibrahim's Slovakian club.
According to Supersport, “KAA Gent has today completed the transfer of the 25-year-old Nigerian central midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim. Rabiu comes from the Slovakian side AS Trenchin.”
Confirming the report in a chat with Own Goal Nigeria, Ibrahim said, “It’s true, am in Belgium as we speak now, my medicals will take place today, am so happy for the opportunity to play for a team as big as Gent",
”I want to thank AS Trenchin and the fans of the club, they really treated me well, and I will forever remain a fan of the team”.
The midfielder also expressed hopes that his performance at his new club will earn him a call-up to play in the Nigeria national football team.
"I’m hopeful that my performance in Belgium will help attract the attention of the national team handlers, am not done with the team, it’s the pride of every player to play for his country, am not different”, he said.
