Are fans becoming ruthless on social media?

Fans worldwide are no longer giving free pass to celebrities who make a controversial statement and get away with it. There seems to have been a paradigm shift concerning how popular figures are viewed.

With the social media now gaining a stronger foot, the communication gap that once existed between popular entertainers and their fans is now almost extinct.

African fans are now very vocal. Give them a smart phone with data subscription, and you are toast!

Nigerian singer, Brymo, who is fast building a controversial reputation among fans, can share a few stories of his encounter.

Recently, the 'Good Morning' singer made a post via his Twitter on July 7, 2016, where he stated that black people enjoy hardship.

This enraged fans who felt Brymo should have been more cautious about his comment. He was given harsh responses in retaliation.

A Twitter user with the handle "@jessica_cole" wrote, "can't believe he said "black man likes to suffer" how stupid."

Other comments came in that order.

American pop singer, Madonna, also had a taste of the beef after calling Kibera the largest slum in Africa. Some Kenyan fans who have no chill gave her the shading of her life following this.

These occurrences have brought a sense of community among the fans, who have now began to have their say concerning some 'inappropriate' comments made by celebrities.

Call it the "Social Media Republic" if you may.
