Readers say Olamide, Phyno are greatest rappers in Africa
The MAMA’s have come and gone, but not everyone left South Africa with a smiley face.
The Nigerian duo were hotly tipped to be winners of the award, but fell short of the mark via a voting process. They were beaten to it by South African golden boy rapper, Cassper Nyovest.
Olamide and Phyno were hoy favorites this year due to the continent-wide acceptance of their music, which the duo fused together in the 2015 symbolic joint-album, ‘2 Kings’ released in April 2015.
In light of this loss, Pulse Nigeria conducted a poll sampling the opinions of our readers who were also tasked with the job of voting these superstars , and asking if Olamide and Phyno are the greatest Hip-hop performers on the continent.
An amazing 55% of people who participated in the survey were supportive of the duo. They believe Olamide and Phyno are still the best on the continent, irrespective of the MAMA shortcoming.
A significant 35 percent of readers who participated believe Olamide and Phyno’s dominance is limited to Nigeria. They see the MAMA as a clear yardstick in measuring an artist’s acceptance.
Over 9% of people are indecisive. They just don’t know.
