States still broke, want more bailout

Governors of the 36 states of the federation rose from their meeting early yesterday with a clear resolution to ask the Federal Government for more assistance in the face of continuing hardship across the country. They also threw their weight behind the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over the $5.2 billion dollar (N1.04trn) fine it imposed on Nigerian telecomms giant, MTN.

Robbers, in movie style, storm Agbara banks avenue

Dare devil robbers armed to the teeth stormed Agbara Estate early yesterday and broke into one of the new generation banks. The time was 6.30am. The robbers were literally speaking a battalion. Some eyewitnesses said they must number 45.

40 robbers attack Ogun banks, kill policemen, nursing mothers

Armed robbers numbering about 40 stormed four commercial banks in the Agbara area of Ogun State on Thursday killing a nursing mother and two policemen including a corporal identified as Kadiri Aliyu.
