That fateful morning..

This is my first outing in a very long while. What more? It’s going to feature a cook out, something I absolutely adore. You see, i’m a foodie and I love everything about food. From the cooking, eating and ahem, passing it out.

Not to digress- by the way, I do that a lot- I am about to tell you of my burger cookout session. The first of its kind I ever attended. I rushed through my daily ablutions and called my friend Ayomide to be quick about it. “we are going to be late” I yelled on the phone. “calm your balls” she replied giddily.

Soon, she arrived and she convinced me not to wear my contacts. She was wearing glasses, so she asked me to take mine too. I idiotically agreed and we climbed bike straight to lawanson. From there, we took obalende and everything was fine until we alighted. Now, we don’t know the way to ikoyi. At the end of the day, we took a taxify which delivered us right in front of the bistro.

A lot of things hit me in succession...

The serenity. The breeze felt different. I could almost feel the stress of my hectic week seep out of me. I delighted in the fact that they have a beautiful outdoor setting set up.

What I didn’t expect was that we were apparently early! Only Chioma was there with our boss. He was quite jovial and we all made small talk while we waited for the others. In the meantime, I went to take strategic selfies.

Turned out that I forgot my glasses much to my chagrin. I was offered My bosses spare glasses and voila, I got saved. We use almost the same prescription.. Wasn’t I lucky? Imagine how disastrous it would have been for me.

Soon enough, Bloggers began to troop in and we could begin the cookout- or so I thought- until Chef Dubmebi suggested we play a game of twister.

The twister game is simple. Move your feet and hands on the twister mat. All the boxes are labelled with a burger ingredient and all the boxes you touch will represent an ingredient for your burger.

It was my turn and I was paired with the vibrant Joyous. It was not a funny game, we twisted and turned on the twister mat like an acrobatic show. We outlasted every other pair because we did not break down fast and it resulted in us getting a lot of delicious ingredients for our burger. We also got huge round of applause and catcalls.

After the game..

We got to cooking. The burger buns were lightly grilled and the aroma was scintillating. I got to find out that Samantha’s make their buns fresh! Then it got to a part I love.. pilling  the different ingredients inside the buns.

Mine was beef patty, veggy patty, jalapenos, goat cheese, mayo, lettuce, sausage, bacon and tomatoes. Doesn’t that sound amazing? OMG it tasted amazing too! After placing them, Chef Dumebi slightly glazed them with a lighter and my burger got sizzled!

Everyone wanted a piece of my delicious burger, but trust me, i SOLOPAMED it. The taste burst in my mouth and my taste buds screamed in joy. It was a beautiful experience especially for a foodie like me. I savoured every beautiful bite.

After eating, I took a stroll around and the environment called to me. I could picture myself and crush coming here to eat and unwind after a long day at work. I could also see us coming here for a date. Yes. It’s absolutely classy too.

I went into the restaurant and the ambiance is just natural. Calm and relaxing. I observed the joy on the diner’s faces and I could relate. I’m joyful too.

We took lots of pictures inside and outside the bistro and I made a lot of new friends. We joked, laughed and Im sure everybody had a good time. We were all invited to the FOOD FESTIVAL and trust me, I went. That’s another tale though!
