PSG Eyeing Surprise Return for French International

Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly considering a surprising transfer move, looking to bring back one of the French internationals currently with Didier Deschamps' squad, who are set to compete for a spot in the World Cup final tomorrow. The target is 32-year-old Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne, who previously played for the Parisian club over a decade ago, between 2013 and 2016. The idea is for him to serve as a backup to Nuno Mendes.

According to journalists, Digne's contract with the Birmingham club includes a low release clause, reportedly under £10 million. Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is reluctant to part ways with the Frenchman, who is a crucial part of his team, but Digne is also one of the club's highest-paid players. With an increasing reliance on Ian Maatsen at Villa Park, a departure for Lucas Digne might not be entirely unexpected.

Digne has started in four of France's six World Cup matches so far, with Didier Deschamps preferring him on the left flank of the defense over Theo Hernandez.
