Paris Saint-Germain remains winless after the first two rounds of the new Ligue 1 season, following a 2-2 draw with Lille away from home. This marks their second consecutive match with an identical scoreline and scenario. Similar to their encounter with Rennes, the Parisians found themselves two goals down, with strikes from Håkon Arnar Haraldsson (21') and Dylan Bakwa (84'), both assisted by Olivier Giroud. However, PSG once again showcased their resilience, salvaging a point with two goals in stoppage time. Vitinha pulled one back in the 91st minute, and then assisted Marquinhos in the 95th for the final equalizer. Despite missing out on a prestigious victory, Lille temporarily topped the league table.
Luis Enrique had previously announced that Ousmane Dembélé would be rested. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, meanwhile, started on the bench. Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are reportedly close to transfers to Liverpool and Aston Villa, respectively. Consequently, Luis Enrique opted for an attacking lineup featuring Désiré Doué and two new signings – Manes Akliouche and Ferran Torres, who debuted with two goals against Rennes. Lucas Beraldo and Fabián Ruiz also started.
Davide Ancelotti fielded the same squad that secured a 2-0 victory over Angers. Olivier Giroud led the attack.
The start of the match was delayed by 15 minutes due to a technical issue that prevented some home fans from entering on time.
Carlo Ancelotti watched his son Davide's first home match as Lille's coach from the stands.
The game began with high intensity, and both teams had a significant chance in the opening minutes. Hakimi's shot hit the post, while Safonov made a superb save from a Giroud effort.
In the 21st minute, the hosts took the lead when Giroud expertly set up Håkon Arnar Haraldsson, who fired a powerful shot past Safonov from just outside the penalty area.
PSG failed to respond before halftime, despite enjoying a territorial advantage.
Kvaratskhelia replaced Doué at the start of the second half, and shortly after, Mika Gods came on for Beraldo. Gods took up a position on the right flank, while Akliouche moved into the center. The Parisians dominated possession and unleashed shots, but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, even with Kvaratskhelia injecting dynamism into the attack. Luis Enrique's changes weren't yielding results. Furthermore, Giroud missed a golden chance, and in the 84th minute, Lille doubled their lead. Dylan Bakwa received a through ball from the French veteran, entered the box, and with a highly technical left-footed shot, beautifully curled the ball into the far corner.
Only then did the Parisians react, finding inspiration in Vitinha. First, the Portuguese midfielder reduced the deficit in the 91st minute with a spectacular strike from the edge of the penalty area. In the fifth minute of added time, Vitinha delivered a perfect cross to Marquinhos, who headed home for the final 2-2.
