Preseason, Same Dominance! Jokic Dazzles with Magic Assists and Makes History with Triple-Double in Denver's Win /VIDEO/
The regular season is yet to tip off, but Nikola Jokic is already racking up triple-doubles and dominating, needing less than 27 minutes on the floor to put on a masterclass against Chicago.
Jokic dished out his 10th assist on a Jamal Murray three-pointer (88-87) before checking out with three minutes left in the third quarter. It marked the Serbian superstar's first career preseason triple-double.
Notably, Jokic did not return to the floor for the remainder of the game, alongside the rest of the starting lineup, leaving the final stretch in the hands of the reserves.
Denver's bench unit held onto the lead down the stretch, making a strong impression on coach David Adelman and sealing a hard-fought win for the Nuggets just ten days before the start of the new season.
Nikola Jokic capped off his night with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists—several of them highlight-reel dimes—shooting an efficient 8-of-12 from the field. Aaron Gordon led the Nuggets in scoring with 25 points, Cam Johnson added 15, while Jamal Murray and Julian Strawther chipped in with 13 points each.
For the Bulls, Leonard Miller led all scorers with 26 points, followed by Caleb Wilson with 17, Buddy Hield with 15, and Matas Buzelis contributing 13.
The Nuggets will continue their preseason in three days against the Los Angeles Clippers, followed by their final tune-up against the Los Angeles Lakers two days later. Denver opens their regular season campaign on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
