The Portuguese side suffered an early shock, falling behind inside the opening minute. Bayzid volleyed home following a well-executed direct attack from Bangladesh to open the scoring after just 35 seconds.

Portugal responded immediately by piling on the pressure, completing the first-half turnaround via set-pieces. In the 6th minute, Santiago Ferro tapped in from close range following a João Salgado cross delivered from a corner.

Five minutes later, Rúben Queiroz put Portugal ahead with a spectacular strike. Rodrigo Brito caught the defense off guard with a low corner towards the FC Porto midfielder, who fired a thunderbolt into the top-left corner from the edge of the box. A sensational goal.

Portugal sealed the win in unusual fashion two minutes from time. Capitalising on the kick-in rule, Sílvio Patrício whipped a delivery towards goalkeeper Sreenath Sarder, who deflected the ball into his own net in the 38th minute.
