The Portland Trail Blazers have officially announced the hiring of former Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori as their new head coach on a multi-year deal.
Nori has built a solid reputation as one of the most respected assistant coaches in the NBA and now gets the opportunity to prove himself in a head coaching role.
This marks his first head coaching position after more than a decade and a half working as an assistant for several different organizations in the league.
Nori has been part of the NBA coaching scene since 2009, gaining experience with numerous teams and various styles of play.
Over the years, he has held various assistant roles, building a reputation as a specialist with strong player communication, detailed game preparation, and excellent defensive organization.
Nori spent four seasons with the Toronto Raptors before joining the Sacramento Kings in 2013. He then moved to the Denver Nuggets in 2015, where he worked with head coach Michael Malone and even led the "Nuggets" in the Summer League, which featured Nikola Jokić.
In 2018, he became an assistant and offensive coordinator for the Detroit Pistons under Dwane Casey. Since 2021, Nori has been Chris Finch's lead assistant in Minnesota, playing a key role on the team's coaching staff.
