Saint Laurent co-founder passes at 86

The art patron and French businessman who co-founded the Yves Saint Laurent fashion brand in 1961 was the life and business partner of Yves Saint Laurent who passed in 2008 at 71. He married Bergé in his final years in a civil ceremony.

Pierre Bergé died at his country home; St-Remy-de-Provence, in southern France after a long illness.

Bergé was CEO of Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture until 2002 when it closed.  He's known to be very protective of the reputation and legacy of the  Saint Laurent Couture.

Bergé was very active in the media, cultural and political circles.
