Court approves party’s caretaker committee, another declares it illegal

Sheriff was sacked on May 21, 2016 when the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was dissolved.

The court also issued an injunction restraining Sheriff and members of the dissolved NWC from representing the party in any capacity.

This was disclosed via a statement signed by presiding judge, Justice A. M. Liman, according to Vanguard.

Meanwhile, Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos has declared the caretaker committee invalid, according to Punch.

Justice Buba reached the decision on Monday, May 23, and instructed Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to enforce his order stopping the members of the caretaker committee from taking over the affairs of the party.

The committee, which is headed by Senator Ahmed Markarfi, was created during the PDP convention on May 21.
