What Peñarroya had to say
Despite the contrasting recent results, Partizan head coach Joan Peñarroya warned that his side cannot afford to underestimate their next opponents, stressing that Vienna boast a quality roster.
We have our second ABA League game ahead of us, right before a crucial EuroLeague double-round week. As for Vienna, they played well in their last two matches. They were solid in their ABA League opener against Cluj, as well as in European competition where they were edged by just a single point against Nancy in France. They are a quality team with a lot of international players, and we will need to perform at a very high level. – Joan Peñarroya
Arijan Lakić echoed those sentiments, stressing that the Black-and-Whites must maintain peak concentration following a demanding trip to Madrid.
We need to rest and focus on Sunday's game, taking Vienna very seriously. After such a tough away fixture against Real in the EuroLeague, we cannot afford to lose focus, as they can easily capitalize on our mistakes—something we simply must avoid. We have to stick together, as we always do.
What Vienna's head coach said
Dragan Bajić emphasized that his team faces an exceptionally difficult challenge against a EuroLeague outfit, but added that his players will need no extra motivation against the Black-and-Whites.
We are facing a top-quality team that has already showcased its class early in the season. Going up against a EuroLeague side is always a unique challenge, and I don't think my players will need any extra motivation. Traveling to France and now to Belgrade is physically demanding, while a lack of competitive fixtures has affected our rhythm. However, matches like this are a great opportunity for us to grow and develop our game at both ends of the floor. I expect my players to give their absolute best, learn from the mistakes made against Nancy, and put up strong resistance against a very good Partizan team. – Dragan Bajić
