Panathinaikos and Obradović Not Done Yet: Greens Target One of EuroLeague's Biggest Revelations!
Virtus Bologna center Aliou Diarra, one of the standout breakthrough players in the EuroLeague so far, is on the radar of the team coached by Željko Obradović.
The 24-year-old, 208-centimeter Senegalese big man joined Virtus in the summer of 2025. He has been delivering impressive displays for the Italian side, averaging just over 11 points and seven rebounds across nine appearances.
Those performances have caught the eye of Panathinaikos, who are keen to add him to their ranks and bolster their frontcourt depth. The report was broken by Greek journalist Giorgos Sifakis on the "Scorakias" podcast.
"PAO have already made preliminary contact with Diarra, but nothing has materialized yet as the Greens continue to monitor the NBA market. Panathinaikos will track NBA rosters until November 15, and if no suitable option emerges from the NBA, Diarra will be the answer for PAO," reported Giorgos Sifakis.
According to his claims, Diarra currently earns around €400,000 per season in Bologna, and Panathinaikos are contemplating offering him a three-year deal with double his current salary. On the other hand, Sifakis notes that Virtus are demanding a buyout fee of approximately €1 million to let their center leave.
