Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was on target again in Napoli's Serie A clash against Udinese at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Osimhen drew Napoli level with a superb header from Mario Rui's freekick after Gerard Delofeu had put Udinese ahead in the first half.

The Nigerian then fired Napoli ahead by sweeping home from the box following a low cross from Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

It was Osimhen's 10th and 11th league goals of the season, making him the first Nigerian to reach double figures in consecutive seasons in the Italian top-flight.

He also became the fourth African to reach the feat after George Weah, Mohamed Salah and Samuel Eto'o.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a club and African record fee of €81.3m.

Although he missed three months of action in his first season due to a shoulder injury and covid-19, Osimhen still managed to score ten goals in 24 league games.

He suffered a similar fate this season, missing two months due to a facial fracture.

However, his two strikes against Udinese on Saturday has taken his tally to 11 goals in 20 league matches this season.

And with eight games to go, Osimhen is also on course to break his highest-scoring season in Europe's top five leagues.

The 23-year-old scored 13 goals in his lone season with Lille in the French Ligue 1, but he is now just three goals away from breaking that number.

Osimhen will not be able to add to his tally in Napoli's next league game, though, after picking up a fifth yellow card of the campaign in the game against Udinese.

However, his attention will now turn to Nigeria's 2022 World Cup playoff tie against Ghana, having missed the Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
